The Health Board has advised the school that parents should be alerted to this fact and be made aware of symptoms. Symptoms include fever, headache and the swelling of cheek and jaw. To prevent the spread of mumps, a student who has contracted it, must stay at home for 10 days after the symptoms develop. If your daughter develops swelling of the cheeks and jaw line contact your G. P. He/She will be able to advise you. If your daughter has received two doses of MMR, the chances of her developing mumps are extremely low. If your daughter has not received two doses it is advised that you should bring her to your G. 8/10/2004 - TY Visit to Botanical Gardens

The present 4th year group studying Horticulture went on a field trip to the botanical gardens on the 4th October 2004.  The two modules groups involved are called Yellow & Blue.  We learned about seed dispersal and we got to see the student’s sculptures around the gardens. We got a guided tour around the gardens and the greenhouses. We were told the names of different flowers and plants especially the exotic ones.

After lunch Mrs Kenna set us a task to find a flower or plant that we liked and to make an advertisement out of the photos that we took.

I truly enjoyed the whole trip I was in my element taking photography on my digital camera. My favourite flower was the passion fruit. I got a lot of information to help me to complete the horticulture module
