The Ceol Loreto Gig was a very enjoyable musical evening! The orchestra played excerpts from The Four Seasons by Vivaldi. The Iconic Dance Group honoured Katy Taylor in their exciting choreography! It was wonderful to hear two talented first years: Adriana Costin playing solo violin and Alma Grimes playing solo cello…Lauren Walsh, Mimi Ajaegbo, Izzy Ríoch, Anna Lattimore and Alice Kiernan all gave beautiful solo vocal performances. Naoise Whearity, Megan McGloughlin and Hannah Egan performed a vocal trio arrangement of Hallelujah with close harmonies to Naoise’s piano accompaniment. We were delighted to see Amy Tolan a 6th year music student finally dancing across our stage as she has done in many Irish dancing championship competitions! Fiona Garvey was amazing too in her Hip Hop routine.. Stephanie Corrigan from 3rd year played beautifully too, she is an accomplished electronic keyboard player with a broad repertoire. The Junior Choir with lots of new members from 1st year performed a lovely rendition of Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious from Mary Poppins. The recorder consort treated us to some lively Jazz and the evening finished with lovely choral singing from the Senior Choir with, What a Wonderful World, The Gift of Music and Sing by Barlow/Webber. We look forward to the next Gig at Christmas and thank all our audience for their warm applause.
