Work Experience

Transition Year involves three weeks work experience. Students are encouraged to find work experience in areas that interest them and in areas that can help them build a pathway to a new future career. If possible the student should try to acquire three different work placements. It is very important that students start looking for their work experience during the summer holidays and not leave it until September. Work Experience will take place during the three weeks prior to the February midterm break. The dates for next year are:

Monday 23rd January to Friday 10th February 2023.

Optional Programmes

We provide a number of optional programmes to the students in Transition Year. These may include a trip to an adventure centre, a photography workshop, a driving course, Gael Linn course and the Public Access to Law course. Sports coaching courses may also be available.

There are also many opportunities for students to get involved with specific TY events and committees throughout the year. The following committees will be set up this year: TY Communications, Amber Flag Committee, Fundraising Committee, Community Links Committee, Sports Committee,  TY Theme Committee, and Event Hosting Committee.
