Discovery: TY Theme Unveiled

Last week our TY Theme Committee unveiled this year’s TY theme, Discovery, along with their beautifully designed badge which was met with huge cheers from their peers. A massive well done to the committee members Abigail, Aisling, Brooke and Irene, who put in tremendous work over many meetings. From shortlisting themes and surveying the year group to collaborating with manufacturers on the final badge design, their dedication truly paid off.

Discovery means something different to everyone. For some, it’s about discovering new subjects or making new friends. For others, it’s the chance to explore new hobbies, interests, and passions.  The turtle featured on the badge faces forward, symbolising curiosity about the world beyond the water — much like a TY student stepping out of their shell to explore new skills, ideas, and opportunities. The sunlight filtering through the water represents guidance towards a new horizon and the growth that comes with discovery. Students were delighted to receive their badges before heading off on another two weeks of discovery on Work Experience.

Well done to everyone involved — there’s still lots more discovering to do for TYs in the months to come!
