Díospóireacht Ghaeilge

Sáriarracht déanta ag ár bhfoireann sóisearach agus sinearach aréir sa dara bhabhta i gComórtas Díospóireachta Gael Linn. Both teams were narrowly beaten, but judges were full of praise for their high ‘caighdeán Gaeilge’ and their ‘paisean don teanga’. Jessica Barugh, Mia Brady and Cerys O’Mahony debated for our junior team, while Jessica Chen, Ella O’Connell and Grace Branagan McGale debated for our senior team. Many Thanks to our dedicated senior TY students making the commute to school after a long day of work experience! Maith sibh!

AgriAware Environmental Innovators

Last week, 6 of our Transition Year Students attended the final of the AgriAware Environmental Innovators programme in UCD, a new initiative in which over 7,500 students in 169 schools across the country participated. Five finalists were selected to attend the final, with two groups representing Loreto Balbriggan.
Students met with and presented their ideas to leading agri-food stakeholders, demonstrating their learning over the course of the programme, on the biggest issues affecting the agricultural sector and the global food systems. They also met with various industry professionals from UCD, BiOrbic, DAFM as well as Ministers Pippa Hackett and Martin Haydon.
Well done to Ali Donohue, Grace Christie, Lucy Scannell, Lucy Waddilove, Megan Gifford and Mya Lennon for all of their hard work.

Extracurricular.

Athletics

On Wednesday five Loreto Balbriggan students competed at the Leinster Schools’ Cross Country Finals. We had both junior and senior students running in various events throughout the day. Congratulations to  Anna Ledwith, Ava O’Connor, Maria Ferguson, Daisy Pereira and Hannah Mc Ginnis who represented the school so well. The girls ran excellently in their respective races where the standards among all athletes at today’s event were very high.

GAA

Well done to our  U14  GAA team who put in a great team performance against our neighbours Coláiste Glór na Mara. Great game to finish off this term

Camogie

Well done our U14 camogie team, who had a very impressive victory over Sancta Maria in their first league match of the season. It was great to see everybody get a runout and enjoy playing the game.
