The Christmas Season in Loreto Balbriggan

Our Christmas Evening Gala was a truly magical celebration of talent, music and festive spirit, featuring wonderful performances from our students along with some very special staff guests. The evening showcased the incredible creativity, talent and dedication of our school community.

The school orchestra set the tone for the night, instantly getting the audience into the Christmas spirit with their festive performance. This was followed by a variety of solo and group performances including the TY Samba Group and both the Junior and Senior Choirs. A standout moment of the evening was the Senior Choir’s breathtaking rendition of O Holy Night, which even the Grinch himself would surely have been moved by. The Trad Group brought energy and excitement to the stage, complete with impressive performances from our talented Irish dancers. Ms Mehigan and Sean from The Dundalk Dolls blew the audience away with their performance, adding a professional sparkle to the evening.

Adding an element of surprise and wonder, our resident magician Ella Nicholson captivated the audience, joined on stage by special guest Mr Armstrong, as she amazed everyone with her extraordinary psychic abilities

A special word of thanks must go to our fabulous Music Captains, Niamh Callaghan, Ailbhe Cassidy, Simone Healy, Kate Hussey, Bronagh McCormack and Caoimhe O’Brien, who played a central role in organising, hosting and performing in the show. Their leadership, enthusiasm and talent were evident throughout the evening and contributed greatly to the success of this memorable event.

The Christmas Evening Gala was a fantastic celebration of music, performance and community spirit, and a perfect way to mark the festive season.

Annual Market Day

On Friday 5th December, our 1st Year, 2nd Year and Transition Year entrepreneurs, together with the Business Department, hosted their annual Market Day. The event was a great celebration of creativity, enterprise and hard work, with students showcasing the results of weeks of planning, teamwork and innovation.

Throughout the day, students sold a wide range of products to staff and students. From delicious hot chocolate and festive treats to handmade terrariums and beauty essentials, there was something for everyone to enjoy. In total, over 70 student businesses took part, creating a lively marketplace and offering plenty of opportunities for some early Christmas shopping.

A panel of 10 judges attended the event and assessed each business across a number of categories, including product design, marketing, innovation and overall presentation. Students were competing for the chance to progress to two competitions: the Fingal Enterprise Awards and the Foróige NFTE Awards.

We were delighted to welcome past pupil and award-winning entrepreneur Sarah Murphy as a special guest on the day. Sarah, the founder and owner of Jack Murphy Clothing, delivered an inspiring presentation to students, sharing her entrepreneurial journey and offering valuable advice. She also assisted in judging the competition, providing expert feedback and encouragement to our young entrepreneurs.

Market Day was a fantastic success and a wonderful opportunity for students to develop real world business skills in a supportive environment. Congratulations to all involved for their enthusiasm, creativity and professionalism.
