Walking in the Spirit of Mary Ward: A Day of Reflection in Knock

On 1st May, 5th and 6th Year students, members of the Ember Team, our Chaplains, and Principal Ms. McDonough joined with other Loreto schools for a meaningful day in Knock — a sacred place of peace, reflection, and shared purpose. The group spent the day walking in the spirit of Mary Ward, founder of the Loreto tradition, whose values of freedom, justice, sincerity, truth, and joy continue to inspire young people today. Through stories, quiet reflection, and moments of connection, students explored how these values can be lived out in everyday life.

It was a day filled with faith, friendship, and reflection — a chance to pause, to be present, and to strengthen the bonds that connect the Loreto school communities. The sense of unity and purpose was clear throughout the day, as students engaged in meaningful conversations and shared moments of stillness and prayer. Those who attended returned with a deep sense of inspiration and gratitude — carrying with them the spirit of Mary Ward and a renewed commitment to live with courage, compassion, and integrity.
