From the Classroom to the Community
Focus Ireland TY Sleepout
It was a privilege to welcome Hilary Copeland from Focus Ireland to our school this week to accept a cheque for the remarkable €17,560 raised during our Sleepout in October. This incredible achievement is a testament to the generosity of our school community, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported the fundraiser in any way. In particular, we commend our Transition Year students for their unwavering commitment, energy, and dedication throughout the entire campaign. Focus Ireland works tirelessly to prevent homelessness and support those currently facing it, offering vital services such as emergency accommodation, housing support, mental health and addiction services, and family outreach programmes.
Today, we also take time to reflect on the recent and deeply sad passing of Sr. Stan, the inspirational founder of Focus Ireland. Her extraordinary legacy of compassion, advocacy, and action continues to inspire, and her impact will be felt for generations to come. We hope that our contribution, and the awareness raised by our students, stands as a meaningful tribute to her vision and life’s work.
1st Year Applied Technology
Our 1st Year Applied Technology students have officially begun their hands-on journey in the workshop. Over the past few weeks, they have been learning how to safely and confidently use a range of tools and machinery while developing essential practical skills. Their first project, designing and creating personalised phone stands, has showcased impressive creativity, teamwork, and craftsmanship and the results speak for themselves! This is just the beginning for these budding designers and engineers, and we can’t wait to see the future projects they will bring to life.
