The 6th Year students attended a Hamlet workshop on Wednesday.

5th Year study skills programme continued this week.

3rd Year student Aoibhe Hegarty contributed to the Gate production of ‘Changing Tides’. Aoibhe was working with the ‘Fighting Words’ company and wrote a monologue and a scene for the play. The play has powerful message about ending child violence. The play opened on Friday in the Gate theatre.

On Tuesday 2nd year students Roisin McCormack, Ana Mai Whelan, Rebecca Lyons and Sophia Foley  competed in the Inter-Loreto debates. Motions included ‘This house believes that digital technology is making children’s live better’ ‘This house believes that it is better to be a teacher than a pupil’ and ‘This house would ban Christmas’ All four debaters spoke extremely well having prepared really interesting speeches, something which adjudicators noted with them at the end of the competition.

‘Junk Kouture’ fashion show will take place in the school hall on Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th of December. Tickets available in the school.

A number of students participated in the Inter-Loreto Swimming Gala on Monday in the National Aquatic Centre.

Ruth Barrett came 1st in the U16 Breaststroke
Emma Fagan came 2nd in the O16 Butterfly
Lauren Bryce came 3rd in the U14 Butterfly

The O16 relay team came third consisting of Olivia Ennis, Emma Fagan, Ruth Barrett and Roisin Wearen came third. Loreto Balbriggan was placed 3rd overall.

The Annual Christmas Gala Evening will take place next Thursday 12th December at 7.30pm. Tickets will be on sale at both lunchtimes €7 adult €5 Loreto students children under 12 and OAPs.
