Congratulations to all our students who took part in BTYS. Great innovation, imagination and excellent research skills were just some of the judges comments in the RDS last weekend. In particular we would like to congratulate our students who were placed in the various categories.
2nd Place Senior Chemical & Mathematical Sciences: Using chitosan to create a biodegradable antimicrobial plastic alternative to aid in the reduction of plastic waste in hospitals.
1st Place Social and Behavioural: Girls confidence in Maths and STEM careers. Robyn Bagely, Ella Markey and Ella Walsh.
3rd Place Intermediate Chemical and Mathematical Sciences:An investigation into the components of Picea Sitchensis Sap and its antibacterial properties. Jennifer Bura and Alanna Foy- Nicolleau. Jennifer and Alanna were also awarded the Science Foundation Ireland Award.
3rd Place Junior Biological & Ecological: Can chitosan reduce fungal growth in a garden herb. Abigail
O’Brien Murray, Erica O’Brien Murray and Olivia O’Shea.

6th year and 3rd year students have been working very hard in preparation for their mock exams
which begin on Friday 31st of January for 6th years and Monday 3rd of February for 3rd years. A
reminder that Friday 17th is the deadline for payment of mock exams. Payment can be made
through easy payments on the website.

All TY students spent this week finalising their work experience placements which will commence
on Monday 27th January.

Congratulations to our U16 Gaelic Football team who won their Leinster Semi Final today. A brilliant
performance from the girls.

Well done to all the girls who competed today in the Drogheda & District Cross Country event. A
special congratulations to Grace Anderson who was 3rd in the Junior 2000m race.

Well done to our Senior Camogie team who won their semi-final of Leinster Shield yesterday! They will now face Our Lady’s Terenure in Naomh Mearnóg today in the final- throw in at 1.30pm.
